The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has announced that Prime Minister Keith Rowley will travel to London today (Tuesday 7th May, 2024) en route to Ghana, where he will be the special guest of honour at the celebration of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, The Asantehene's 25th-year of ascension to the Golden Stool and reign as the King of Asante. Mrs. Sharon Rowley will accompany the Prime Minister.
According to the OPM, in 2023, the Asantehene and his delegation visited Trinidad and Tobago to commemorate this country's Emancipation Day celebrations. While in Ghana, Prime Minister Rowley will also meet with the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo. P.M. Rowley will lead the delegation which will include the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator the Hon. Dr Amery Browne. Minister of Finance, the Hon. Colm Imbert, will act as Prime Minister in the interim.

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Sangre Grande and Guayaguayare on Wednesday (8th May, 2024). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works.
According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Sangre Grande and Guayaguayare are as follows: SANGRE GRANDE (9:00 AM to 3:00 PM)
GUAYAGUAYARE (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.
A mentally unstable man is currently hospitalized following a Police-involved shooting incident this afternoon (Tuesday 7th May, 2024) in Barrackpore. The suspect, a 33-year-old man, was said to be randomly throwing stones at vehicles that were passing by. He is presently being treated at the San Fernando General Hospital after being shot by Police.
According to reports, Officers were on patrol in the Barrackpore district, around 12:18 PM, when upon arriving at #2 Scale New Colonial, they observed a man throwing stones at vehicles.
They stopped and attempted to speak to the man. However, he allegedly lunged at one of the Officers with a cutlass. The Officer, fearing for his life, discharged his firearm, hitting the man multiple times. He was then taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for medical treatment.

[Source: CNC3] The Ministry of Works and Transport is advising the public that there will be a temporary traffic disruption along the Southern Main Road, Claxton Bay, between Teak Avenue and Rosehill Street. This disruption will commence on Wednesday (8th May, 2024) and is expected to be completed on Thursday (9th May, 2024). This has become necessary to facilitate road works.

Two (2) persons are dead following a shooting incident at a mini-mart in Penal last night (Monday 6th May, 2024). The deceased have been identified as 31-year-old Radick Ajodha and 36-year-old Jenelle Thompson, who were said to be the owners of Jenoie’s Mini-Mart. According to reports, an anonymous caller contacted Police about a shooting at Rock Road, near Hope Trace, shortly before 11:00 PM. The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Clinton Cross of Moraldo Street, Maraval. The wounded person is said to be a 28-year-old man, also from the community.
According to reports, residents of Moraldo Street heard several loud explosions around 9:40 PM. Upon investigating, they found Cross and the 28-year-old man lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and a team of Officers responded to the scene, led by Sgt. Romeo and Cpl. Periera. However, Cross succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The wounded 28-year-old man was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (POSGH) for medical treatment. He is said to be listed in serious condition as of 9:00 AM this morning (Monday 6th May, 2024). Crime scene investigators recovered several rounds of 7.62mm and 9mm spent shells. A man is dead following a shooting incident in Mt. Hope this morning (Monday 6th May, 2024). The deceased has been identified as Kyle Joseph.
According to reports, residents of the area heard several loud explosions around 11:15 AM at Hope Place Villas, off Mt. Hope Road. Upon investigating, they found a man lying face-down on the ground at the side of the building.
Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and a team of Officers from the St. Joseph Police Station and the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) responded to the scene.
